The Improv Centre is holding General Auditions this summer for our 2026–2028 Mainstage Ensemble and Season 7 of our House Teams Program.
We are seeking improvisers who reflect the Lower Mainland’s rich and diverse performing arts community and are excited to perform at our world-renowned theatre on Granville Island. Whether you have worked with us before, performed on our stage, auditioned previously, or are new to The Improv Centre, we encourage you to submit for an audition.
Auditions: July 26, 27, and 28, 2026
Callbacks: August 4, 2026
If you encounter any barriers to participating in our audition process, please reach out to us. We are committed to accessibility and will work with you to find a way to see your audition.
The Mainstage Ensemble is a paid performance opportunity. The House Teams Program is an educational training program with a participation fee.
Auditions for our Mainstage Ensemble happen every two years. Our House Teams Program holds intake auditions every six months.
While we welcome submissions from performers of all backgrounds and experience levels, priority will be given to applicants with improv experience.
Yes, you can! In the application form you can specify what you’re interested in: MainStage Ensemble, House Teams Program, or both!
No, this is not a paid audition opportunity. We greatly appreciate your time and the time it takes to prepare your application.
Unfortunately, if you’re unavailable during this window, we won’t be able to consider you. Improv is a hugely collaborative art form, and it’s crucial that we see how you perform with others.
For performers who have barriers to access to any part of our process as laid out, please reach out to us at auditions@theimprovcentre.ca and we will happily find a way to see your audition.
The Improv Centre welcomes and supports people of all backgrounds and identities. This includes, but is not limited to, people of any sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, social or economic class, educational level, colour, immigration status, sex, age, size, family status, political belief, religion, and mental or physical ability.
Our mission is to train and showcase excellence in improv comedy and theatre that reflects, engages, and challenges our audiences. We are committed to maintaining the high artistic standards that our audiences, community partners, and theatres around the world have come to expect from The Improv Centre.
While we welcome submissions from performers of all backgrounds and experience levels, priority will be given to applicants with improv experience.
When putting together our Mainstage Ensemble and House Teams, we consider how different skill sets, styles, and energies complement one another to create a balanced, supportive ensemble with strong chemistry. Because this process involves many moving pieces, please know that a casting decision is never a final verdict on your talent or value as an improviser.
Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we will not be able to offer everyone an audition. However, all applicants will receive a response regardless of the outcome.
Thank you for bringing your creativity and passion to our theatre. We look forward to seeing your work!
We want you to know what you’re walking into at an audition here at TIC. When it comes to who you are auditioning for, you can expect to see a collection of faces from all over Vancouver’s improv community.
