Since 1981, The Improv Centre (originally created as the Vancouver TheatreSports League) has been serving up side-splitting, smart, and spontaneous improvised theatre to Metro Vancouver and around the world. Generations of locals and visitors have filled our seats, laughed together, and witnessed the magic that only live improv can create.
This magic is largely supported through people who understand it takes a lot to put on a show, and exists only through the support of donors like you!
As an artist-driven nonprofit, TIC produces year-round programming six days a week in our 186-seat Granville Island venue. We provide a home for creativity, connection, and community—powered by your generosity.
The Improv Centre’s charity registration number is126177112RR0001.
Your support helps us do more than keep the lights on.
Funds raised support meaningful programs that keep improvisation accessible, inclusive, and transformative:
Educational Access: Programs like our East Van Improv Project bring free workshops and student showcases to under-resourced schools.
Diversity & Inclusion: Expanding the diversity of the next generation of improv artists through opportunities in our celebrated training programs. These include free beginners’ workshops for BIPOC, femme, and LGBTQIA+ affinity groups, scholarships, and financial aid programs for our House Teams
Community Outreach: We bring laughter where it’s needed most—with free outreach workshops and performances for groups like the Urban Native Youth Association and Take a Hike Foundation, plus our free Community Jams where everyone is welcome.
The Heat – An International Improv Comedy Showcase: Every year, improv artists from around the world join TIC for a week of performances and workshops, bringing the global improv community to our local audiences.
Accessibility Upgrades: From new washrooms and automatic doors to improved amenities, we’re working to make our space more welcoming for all.
Improv has the power to heal, connect, and inspire. At TIC, improvisation isn’t just entertainment—it’s a platform for education, inclusion, creativity, and community-building.
Your donation—no matter the size—keeps this mission alive.
All contributions over $20 are tax-deductible, and you’ll be directly supporting a more inclusive, joyful, and expressive future.
