The Heat 2027 Application Portal – Headlining Troupes

Join us for our 4th year of The Heat – International Improv Comedy Festival hosted by The Improv Centre on Granville Island in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This 5-day festival will celebrate a myriad of talent from across the globe and YOU could be part of it!

During the festival, two international Headlining Troupes take the stage in the first half of each show, performing short form improv that highlights their unique team dynamics. The second half features either an all-play set or a 35-minute international team showcase.

Throughout the week, teams mix and mingle, take part in workshops, activities, and jams, meet fellow performers and improv enthusiasts from around the world, and revel in the joy of yes, and!

We want to see what you’ve got! So…will YOU bring THE HEAT?

For successful Headlining Troupes, The Improv Centre will:

  • cover up to 7 nights of accommodations for your troupe members (maximum of three performers)
  • cover up to 75% of economy fare flights for three performers (capped based on regional average costs)
  • provide a per diem to cover small expenses while staying in town for the festival

Teams must be available for all nights of performances during the festival, and be able to teach and perform primarily in English.

We encourage international and domestic troupes to apply. Successful applicants who need to travel to Vancouver will be provided with a travel subsidy, depending on distance of travel/length of stay.

Please complete and submit the information below to apply. There is a $35 CAD application fee. Applications will not be considered unless the troupe’s application fee has been paid.

The following submission form will not save your work as you go, so we suggest you write your answers separately in a word processor so you don’t lose your work.

Acknowledgements

Your troupe’s members must obtain all visas and official documents to legally travel to Vancouver, Canada.
You must be present in Vancouver and available during The Heat festival.
